The Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Drainage and Water Resources, Joe Igbokwe has stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is more physically fit that many youths in Nigeria.
Igbokwe said this on Thursday when he fielded questions on Arise News’s ‘The Morning Show.’
He said that not only is the APC chieftain physically fit to run the country, but he is mentally strong to carry on the leadership of Africa’s biggest economy.
The government aide added that age should not be a barrier to anyone taking over from President Buhari as Tinubu is aptly qualified and comes with a lot of experience.
Igbokwe said that the presidential hopeful is not older that the incumbent United States President Joe Biden or his predecessor, Donald Trump.
According to him, “When you get to the US, the number one democratic nation, you’ve seen Trump, you know his age, you’ve seen Joe Biden, you know his age. Age has nothing to do wit it. It’s just a number.
“So, he (Tinubu) has the capacity, he is coming to the table with a lot of experience and you cannot ignore that. We should just pray for him. I don’t think he is older than Biden. I don’t think he is older than the former President Trump.
“He is 69, that’s his age. Even if he is 70, he is still qualified, even if he is 80, he still remains qualified. So long as he is physically fit and he has the mental alertness to do the job.”
He added that he will go all out to ensure that that Bola Tinubu emerges the APC party flag bearer even if Osinbajo contests.
In his words, “It is the party that will decide, we will go to the national convention, whoever emerges, we will support that person because only one candidate will be fielded by the APC. It can be Asiwaju, it can be Osinbajo, it can be Umahi but as I speak to you now, my voter card is in my pocket and I am going to use it to vote for Asiwaju if he wins the primary.”
He added: “It is the party that will decide, we will go to the national convention, whoever emerges, we’ll support that person because only one candidate will be fielded by the APC; it can be Asiwaju (Tinubu), it can be Osinbajo, it can be Umahi but as I speak to you now, my voter’s card is in my pocket and I am going to use it to vote for Asiwaju if he wins the primary.”
