Lawmakers Kidnapped in Various States by Unknown Gunmen

Unknown gunmen have kidnapped at least 2 lawmakers, the wife of 1 and a businessman in Nigeria between Saturday and Sunday.

Bamidele Adegoroye, former chairman of Ilejemeje Local Government was reported kidnapped on Sunday evening around Iludun-Isan Ekiti road while on his way to a meeting.

The gunmen were said to have double-crossed his vehicle and whisked him away to an unknown destination.

Isan-Ekiti is the hometown of of incumbent Governor Kayode Fayemi.

Omooba Adegoroye was said to have been on his way from Ado Ekiti when he was kidnapped alongside one of his boys identified as Alfa.

In another development, unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers also abducted a former speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Lawman Duruji.

He is alleged to have been kidnapped on Saturday at Ehime Mbano Local Government Area while retuning from an event.

Gunmen also abducted a businessman known as Ezzybee on Sunday while he was on his way to watch a football match.

Equally kidnapped over the weekend was the wife of an ex-chairman of Okigwe Local Government Area, Frank Onwunere.

Okigwe is the third largest city, after Owerri and Orlu, while Ohaji/Egbema is fourth in Imo state.
