A Lagos socialite who was recently installed as the Erelu of Kemta Kingdom, Pearl Chidinma Ogbolu has apologised for sharing premium motor spirit also known as petrol as souvenir at her installation party.

The apology came after public backlash over the video which saw waiters handing out 10 litres of petrol in kegs with the sticker, ‘Erelu Okin Foundation Installation Party.’

The waiters and ushers appeared not to mind the dangers involved in the carefree handling of the petrol at the event which took place at the Havillah Event Place, Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Equally thrown around freely were wards of Naira in mint notes.

While apologising for the sharing the dangerous petroleum product, Chidinma said, “I want to use this medium to apologise for the momentarily indiscretion of bringing fuel Souverniers into the hall.

My intent was just to show appreciation to my guests for turning up at my event at these hard times.

“I have paused to reflect and truly apologise and I thank you all for your understanding and criticisms,” Ms Ogbolu wrote in an Instagram post on March 5.

Popular Fuji artiste, Malaika who performed at the installation party, said he was surprised at the choice of souvenir.

He was overheard singing in Yoruba: “Where is my own fuel? I initially thought it was oil, because it’s common to see that in parties.”
