A University of Benin (UNIBEN) lecturer, Prof Godspower Ekuobase has joined the 2023 presidential race under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lecturer of Services Computing advised Nigerians to be weary of moneybag aspirants who have nothing to offer except to loot the country’s resources once in power.

Addressing journalists in Benin City, the Edo State capital, Ekuobase decried the tendency of Nigerians to be carried away by politicians who dole out money but have no concrete plans for citizenry.

He added that Nigerians should rather look out for politicians who have the technical skills to steer the ship of the country.

According to him, “Nigeria is not for sale; what we want is not the people that have money but people that have the intellect, brain and the love for the country. When you say you are looking for the person that has money, he will want to get his money back. We are not selling Nigeria.”

The UNIBEN Prof noted that Nigerian is in the present state because people have let themselves be deceived by those who have money but lack relevant skills.

He said that Nigeria is unable to compete in the global stage because it lacked the needed leadership.

“I want to contest for presidency because I have the strength, age and the support of the elderly and the young ones.”

“That is why I am going to ensure that Nigeria reckon with the league of nations. We are too backward, and we need to step up our game, knowledge must come in. We need people that can think” he said.

The lecturer added that if elected he would focus on agriculture, security, job creation, education, health, technology among others to steer Nigeria away from import dependency to a major exporter.
