News - Women's Perspective

An auto crash that occurred in the Mushin area of Lagos is reported to have killed a masquerade and 2 other persons.

The Guild reports that security operatives from Area D Command in Lagos prevented an outbreak of violence as a result of the accident.

The incident occurred at about 2:30 pm on Wednesday, May 11, along the Isolo road.

Security operatives were also helpful in preventing the aggrieved residents of the community from lynching the driver.

The police fired tear gas canisters to disperse the chaotic mob, who requested that the driver be handed over to them.

The tear gas forced the rampaging crowd and road users to flee to safety while the truck driver took refuge with the police command.

The request by the mob was denied by the police, causing confusion at the station as vehicles were forced to seek alternative routes.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed the incident and added that the situation had been brought under control.
