Disappearance of Children in Taraba Causes Outrage, Panic

Residents of Taraba State have expressed outrage and cried out over the mysterious disappearance of some children in the Wakari Local Government Area of the State.


Speaking with Punch, some women said that the incessant disappearance of their children which started in April made them stage a protest over the sad incident.

Sharing her ordeal, a woman identified as Patience Asoga said two of her children have been missing since 24th April 2022 and the matter has been reported to the Department of State Service but nothing has been heard regarding the investigation.

According to her, “I travelled to Ibi and left the children in the house with other family members. When I came back they were nowhere to be found and I was told none of them left the house.”

“Initially, we thought they were sleeping and that was how the children got missing till date.”

“We have reported the matter to the police and Department of State Services but we have not heard from them regarding their investigation.”

Justin Ajifken, another Wukari resident, stated that roughly eight children aged six to seven have so far been reported missing and that their locations were still unknown.

In spite of the outrage in the community, the Taraba State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP. Usman Abdullahi is yet to comment on the incident.
