Unveiling Shettima: Tinubu Campaign Organization Reacts to News of Hiring Fake Bishops

The Tinubu left Campaign Organisation (TCO) has denied claims that it hired fake bishops to attend the unveiling of Kashim Shettima as the Vice Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Director of Media and Communication of TCO, Bayo Onanuga, made this known in an interview on Wednesday.

He noted that the clerics at the event are not big names in the Christian faith, saying that the bishops were not hired or fake bishops.

Tinubu’s image maker said the bishops are church leaders who genuinely believe that Nigerians must eschew politics of hatred and religious bigotry and rather embrace politics of peace and nation-building.

Onanuga stated that the clerics are patriotic Nigerians who believe in the unity of the country, asking Nigerians to ignore the claims made by the purveyors of hatred.

He said, “We want to say that those clergymen were not fake, not mechanics or yam sellers as the purveyors of hatred have made Nigerians to believe in the social media. They are not big names in Christendom yet, they are gradually building up their missions.

“They are church leaders who genuinely believe that Nigerians must eschew politics of hatred and religious bigotry and rather embrace politics of peace and nation building.

“We, therefore, deplore the hysterical twisting of the presence of these men and women in cassocks and the false accusation against our candidates, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Shettima”.

There were mixed reactions on Wednesday after some supposed Christian clerics were allegedly hired by the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s camp to honour the unveiling of Shettima as his vice presidential candidate for the 2023 election.

In what looks like an attempt to make Nigerians believe that Tinubu has the backing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and believers, the APC reportedly hired the unknown bishops whose photos and video have gone viral.
