Irate youths and students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), are today staging a public protest in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

PUNCH reports that a final year student, identified as Rachael Opadele, and an hotelier, Olugbenga Owolabi were abducted and murdered by persons suspected to be bandits.

The two victims were abducted on Thursday night at the hotel located in the Abaa community in Surulere Local Government Area.

Rachael is said to have taken up the hotel job due to ASUU strike.

Sources close to the student’s family claimed that the victims were shot dead after the kidnappers had received a N5 million ransom.

The okada rider, who took the ransom to the kidnapper’s hideout, was reportedly shot, but he is still alive.

The LAUTECH Student Union President, Anuoluwa Adeboye, stated he had not confirmed the news from the police.

At the time of this report, the Police are yet to issue a statement about the incident.

However, the Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Oba Francis, confirmed the sad news.

The angry youths and students took over the Ogbomoso Ilorin road, protesting over the alleged killing of the victims.
