Deborah Samuel, the student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education, has been honoured by the United States of America (US)

Punch News reports that Deborah Samuel’s picture was uploaded on the website of the US Office of Religious Freedom.

The picture is said to have been uploaded this month of August to mark the United States of America International Day of commemorating the victims of violence based on Religion and Belief.

In the narrative to honour the late student on the website, the office of International Religious Freedom wrote that in May, defying attempts by security agents to stop the violence, a mob brutally stoned, flogged, and burned to death college student Deborah Samuel in Nigeria, and that the attack was fueled by hatred and blasphemy allegations.

The office further wrote that it honours Deborah’s life as it continues the work to end such vicious violence.

would be recalled that in May 2022, Deborah Samuel, a college student who was studying Home Economics at Shehu Shagari College of Education lost her life in a mob action that sparked criticisms across the country.
