Olori Mariam Prays Fervently for Her King, the Ooni as He Turns 48 (video)

Olori Mariam Ogunwusi, the senior queen in the palace of the Ooni of Ife, yesterday, prayed fervently for him as he turned 48.


The Yoruba traditional ruler was on Sunday, October 16th, treated to a surprise party after his wedding party with queen Ashley the same day.

The highly respected monarch, was previously hosted to a pre-birthday party, which held hours after his wedding to his senior Queen, Mariam.

Princess Toyin Kolade, alongside many others, gave the monarch, the pleasant surprise birthday experience.

In one of the videos seen online, Mariam was on her knees praying fervently for her King. It would appear that she is a shy royal as she frequently avoided the cameras and the microphone.

The grateful Oba was all smiles as his wife wished him love, long life and prosperity.


Ojaja II is the 51st Ooni of Ife. He was born on the 17th of October 1974.

Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II ascended the throne in 2015, succeeding the famous immediate past monarch, late Oba Okunade Sijuwade, who was the 50th Ooni of Ife.

His paternal grandfather was Prince Joseph Olagbaju Adewole Ogunwusi, whose grandfather was Ọba Ọ̀ráyẹ̀gbà (also known as Ooni Orarigba or Orasigba) Ọjájá I, who was the 44th Ooni of Ife and ruled from 1878 to 1880
