Nollywood actor and self-acclaimed polygamist, Yul Edochie, has once again, publicly apologised to his first wife, May, over his infidelity, decision to become a polygamist and marriage to his colleague, Judy Austin.
Since May 2022, Yul has been in the news after his marriage to Judy and the child they child they share together, without his wife’s consent. He noted that he wants to also give his son with Judy a proper family footing.
The incident which also sparked public outrage and unfavourable reactions from Yul’s father, Pete Edochie.
Amidst the backlash online, the actor justified his action by declaring that God directed him to turn his household into a polygamous one, but May remains adamant with her own convictions guided by her Catholic faith.
The actor took to his Instagram page on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, to send another heartfelt apology to her, stressing he has hurt her deeply and he takes the blame for his actions.
According to Yul Edochie, he has apologized countless times and has come to terms with his wife that polygamy should not be forced on anyone, however, taking a second wife was never an attempt to disrespect her.
The actor added he has been a good father as well as provided everything that May needed, he, therefore, pleaded with her to forgive the past so they can live peacefully and happily.
He wrote: “To my dear wife, Queen May Yul-Edochie, I acknowledge that I hurt you deeply and I’ve apologized to you countless times. I take the blame for my actions. I agree with you that polygamy shouldn’t be forced on anyone. You never bargained for it from the beginning neither did I. But I guess life happens.
“You already know the whole story. I didn’t do it to disrespect you, I didn’t do it to replace you nor because I do not love you anymore, no. I have always loved you and always will. I’ve been a good husband and a wonderful father. I’ve supported all your hustle from day one, I have been an exceptional father to our children till date making sure they lack nothing and always there for everyone.
“Out of 100 I have done 99 things right, hating me because of one thing isn’t the best. Nobody is perfect. I’m not. You’re not. Nobody is, except God. I assure you that nobody is trying to take your place. I have apologized to you countless times sincerely from my heart.
“I’m sorry. I’ve always loved you and always will. Butuo nwanyi oma. We can live peacefully and happily.”
