Man Rescued from Jumping into Lagos Lagoon (video)

Stories from the heart

A viral video has shown the moment an unidentified man was rescued from taking the dangerous plunge into Lagos Lagoon from the Third Mainland Bridge.

In the short clip, the man is seen sitting gingerly on the railings of the high bridge looking into what he thought to be his very final destination.

In a bid to stop him from carrying out his act, some men slowly approach him before grabbing and pulling him off the iron bar.

He is seen struggling but the men succeeded in pulling him off the railing.

It is hoped he does not return another day.

Only a few months back a Department of State Service (DSS) staff identified as Adetutu Adedokun took the fatal plunge after receiving a call from her fiancee.

Adedokun was said to be an unarmed combat instructor. It was also said that she recently got engaged.

Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu revealed that the lady came down from a taxi on the bridge and jumped into the lagoon after a heated argument with her fiancee.

He said, “Further investigation revealed that the lady alighted from an Uber taxi car on the bridge and plunged into the lagoon.

”The driver of the taxi claimed she was having a heated conversation with her fiancé before alighting from the car.”
