‘Don’t Set Me Up for Impeachment’ – Soludo Begs Peter Obi (video)

Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has rejected the call by the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi for the people of Anambra to vote massively for LP candidates during the forthcoming state assembly elections.

Soludo cried out that the call by Obi for the people of the state to vote for the Labour Party might just be laying landmines for him and setting him up for impeachment.

The incumbent Governor lamented that Obi has a firsthand experience of what it means to be Governor without his party in control of the legislature and must not want him to have a similar experience.

Soludo spoke against the background of Obi’s call on Friday night when he met with National and state Assembly candidates of the Labour Party in Anambra and urged the assembly candidates to work with Soludo if elected into power.

Obi said Soludo should not fear being impeached by Labour Party-dominated assembly, as they would be working together to move the state forward.

However, Governor Soludo in a reaction through his Press secretary, Mr Chris Aburime said the move by Obi could be deceptive.

He said: “That call was meant to deceive Anambra people. Obi can not be talking about development in Anambra and also be talking about asking Anambra people to elect lawmakers from the opposition party to work with Soludo.

“He worked with a legislature that was dominated by lawmakers from the PDP, when he first came in as governor, and he knows that it was not easy for him.

He even suffered impeachment because of that, and we hope it is not the same thing he wants to set Soludo up for.”
