A 53-year-old woman has been arrested for producing fake election materials in a Lagos suburb.
The woman whose name was not given was arrested at a business Centre in Baruwa, Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos where she was making photocopies and laminating electoral materials suspected to belong to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for Lagos Police Command said in a statement that the woman was arrested on Thursday at about 4.00 p.m. at Candos Road of Baruwa area.
He added that she was nabbed inside a business centre where she was making the photocopies with 550 different INEC materials.
Hundeyin added that the suspect could not explain how she came about the electoral materials or state the purpose for which she was producing them.
“The laptop she used in printing the materials has been recovered and she couldn’t give a good account of how she came in possession of the materials.
“The case has been transferred to State CID Yaba for further investigation,” he said.
