Senate Chief Whip and former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Kalu, recently held an open casket viewing for his late wife, Ifunanya Kalu, in the United States.

The event, which was held in Houston, Texas, had in attendance, friends, family, and well-wishers who came to pay their respects and bid farewell to the late banker.

According to reports, the open casket viewing was held in line with the African tradition of celebrating the life of the departed. During the event, mourners were seen shedding tears and paying tribute to Ifunanya Kalu, who was described as a kind-hearted woman who touched many lives during her time on earth.

The open casket viewing was also a testament to the strong bond that existed between Orji Kalu and his late wife. Speaking about his wife, Kalu expressed his deep love for her and how much he would miss her. The event also highlighted the importance of family and community in African culture. In attendance were family members, friends, and well-wishers from Nigeria and other parts of the world. The gathering provided an opportunity for people to come together, share memories and console each other during a time of grief.

The open casket viewing was not without controversy, as some critics saw it as an unnecessary display of wealth and a departure from African cultural norms. However, others defended Kalu’s decision, stating that it was a personal choice and a way to celebrate the life of his wife.

Notwithstanding, the open casket viewing for Ifunanya Kalu was a solemn event and a reminder of the importance of family and community in times of grief.
