Bashir Ahmad, the Special Assistant on Digital Communications to President Muhammadu Buhari has listed the achievements of the president in his eight years in office.
According to him, Buhari will be remembered for some of the notable projects he carried out during his tenure.
Buhari is expected to hand over power to the president-elect, Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2023, despite raging opposition to the transition.

Under President Buhari, Nigeria has seen the most ambitious legislative programme in its history. Several landmark Bills have been passed or amended in the last seven years, including the following:
– 16 Constitution Amendment Bills (March 2023)
– Business Facilitation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2022
– Electoral Act (Amendment) Act, 2022 – Defence Research and Development Bureau Act, 2022
– Nigerian Copyright Act, 2022
– Nigerian Tourism Development Authority Act, 2022
– National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Act, 2022
– Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) Act, 2022
– Federal University of Transportation, Daura, Katsina State, Est. Bill, 2022
– Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, which repeals the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 as amended, and provides a comprehensive legal and Institutional Framework for the prevention and prohibition of money laundering in Nigeria, while also conferring on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the legal status of the Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering.
– Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, which repeals the Terrorism (Prevention) Act, 2011 as amended in 2013, and provides for the effective implementation of international instruments on the prevention and combating of terrorism and suppression of the financing of terrorism.
– Proceeds of Crime (Recovery and Management) Act, 2022, which makes comprehensive provisions for the seizure, confiscation, forfeiture, and management of properties derived from unlawful activity.
– Civil Aviation Act, 2022, to provide for an effective legal and institutional framework for the regulation of civil aviation in Nigeria in order to promote aviation safety and security, ensure that Nigeria’s obligations under international aviation agreements are implemented, and consolidate the law relating to civil aviation regulation in Nigeria.
– Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (Establishment) Act, 2022
– National Institute of Credit Administration (Establishment) Act, 2022 – Chartered Institute of Social Work Practitioners (Establishment) Act, 2022
– Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria Act, 2022
– Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contracts Act, 1993 (Amendment) Act, 2019, which will deliver increased revenues to the Federation.
