'Why Akpabio Is Not Qualified to Be Senate President' - Ezekwesili

Ezekwesili Reacts as Federal Government Orders Destruction of #AllEyesOnTheJudiciary Billboard

News - Women's Perspective

Former 2-time Minister, Oby Ezekwesili, has reacted after the federal government ordered the destruction of the viral billboard with the inscription #AllEyesOnTheJudiciary.

The presidency ordered that the strategically mounted billboards be pulled down as Nigerians await the verdict of the Presidential Election Petition Court.

Also disbanded is the Secretariat of the Advertising Standard Panel due to its endorsement of billboards. Reports say the panel is accused of attempting to manipulate the verdict of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal with the slogan.

A statement by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria earlier announced the panel’s dissolution on Tuesday.

Also speaking to The PUNCH, the Director-General of the ARCON, Olalekan Fadolapo, said sacking the panel became necessary due to its failure to disapprove an advert that did not comply with the commission’s vetting guidelines.

Reacting to the development, Oby Ezekwesili, in a post via her Twitter handle, made a mockery of the federal government, stating the digital billboard is much cheaper than the one they destroyed.

Oby Ezekwesili noted that the Nigerian judiciary owes the citizens absolute judicial independence, transparency and integrity, hence, all eyes are on them.

She wrote: “A Digital Billboard is so much cheaper than one that an obviously misguided regulator demolished.

“So here’s my message to our Nigerian Judiciary that constitutionally owes Citizens absolute judicial independence, transparency and integrity:

“#AllEyesOnTheJudiciary#AllEyesOnTheJudiciary #AllEyesOnTheJudiciary #AllEyesOnTheJudiciary #AllEyesOnTheJudiciary #AllEyesOnTheJudiciary #AllEyesOnTheJudiciary”
