The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos State has sacked Hon Emeka Nnamani of the Labour Party (LP) over a petition pertaining to certificate forgery.

Nnamani had been winner for Aba North and South Federal Constituency of Abia State

The certificate issues were said to have happened in 2015.

The court in its ruling on Thursday, also declared Alex Ikwechegh of the All Grand Progressives Alliance (APGA) as the authentic winner of the February 25 general election in the constituency.

The ruling of the Appellate Court agrees with the position of the election petition tribunal that annulled the victory of Nnamani during the 2023 general election.

The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, sitting in Umuahia, Abia State capital, led by Justice Adeyinka Aderibigbe, had in September, sacked Nnamani, who is a member of the Labour Party and ordered that a certificate of return be issued to Alex Ikwechegh, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), who came second in the election.
