The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Monday afternoon, resumed the collation of election results in the Bayelsa State Governorship Election.
The election was conducted on the 11th of November, 2023 but conclusion of collation was postponed to Monday.
Incumbent Governor Duoye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is leading and has won five Local Government Areas (LGAs).
Following the resumption of collation on Monday afternoon, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Timipre Sylva, has won an additional local government area.
The state Resident Electoral Officer (REC) announced that Sylva is the winner of Brass local government, where he hails from. He added that the result of Southern Ijaw LGA is expected before the election is concluded.
