Indigenes of the ancient Benin Kingdom are all over the internet in defense of one of their own, Divine Ikunbor popularly known as Rema for reenacting their revered 16th century queen, Idia.
Rema wore a mask and rode on a horse like Queen Idia did during her reign to open his 02 Arena concert in London.
Many of his fans were mesmerized by the performance while a few described it as demonic and accused the 23-year-old of joining the Illuminati.
Rema who broke his silence said the mask could be traced back to his roots in Benin. He said that since his ancestors’s bronze artifacts are still holed up in British museums, he decided to reenact it his own way.
