The number of casualties in the recent drone attack on Tudun Biri in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State has now reached 120.
The report was made available by officials from Amnesty International who conducted assessments in the affected communities.
Survivors of the bombing also claim that they were bombed twice by the Nigerian Army.
The air strike targeting terrorists is said to have accidentally hit civilians during the Maulud celebration on Sunday night.
The National Emergency Management Agency initially reported 85 deaths and 66 injuries.
Amnesty International’s Country Director, Isah Sanusi, confirmed the death toll, stating that over 120 persons had died in the bombing.
He mentioned at least 77 bodies in each of the mass graves, challenging the initial casualty figure released by NEMA.
The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) condemned the incident, calling for a thorough investigation and punishment for those found culpable.
President Bola Tinubu had expressed condolences and called for investigations into the tragic incident.
The Northern States Governors’ Forum, Transparency International, civil society groups, and concerned individuals are demanding accountability and a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the bombing.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, while speaking to newsmen, said the military would investigate the incident.
He said a panel would be instituted to look into the matter, adding that the details would be communicated.
