A Nigerian lady who survived the Sosoliso plane crash that occurred 18 years ago where over 100 passengers including her secondary school classmates were confirmed dead, has paid tributes to them.

Taking to her social media pages on Sunday, she posted a message in memory of the colleagues with the caption, “Dear 60 Angels.”

The lady, Kechi Okwuchi, was one of the two people that survived the crash of Sosoliso Flight 1145 that took off from Abuja to Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on December 10, 2005. The plane crashed during landing at the Port Harcourt International Airport, bursting into flames.

Among the passengers were 61 students of Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja, including Kechi. 60 of the students died alongside other passengers but only Kechi was the only student that survived the crash.

Also among those who died during the crash was the popular television evangelist and pastor of the Fountain of Life Church, Pastor Bimbo Odukoya, who was initially rescued but succumbed to her injuries a day later. Her Personal Assistant, Bunmi Amusan, now Mrs Bunmi Adams, was the other person that survived.

Kechi, who suffered serious burns as a result of the aircraft that went up in flames, was treated at Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa and later at Shriner Hospitals for Children in Galveston, Texas, United States,

However, on Sunday, exactly 18 years after the crash, Kechi wrote a heartfelt remembrance message on her X handle for her schoolmates whom she described as “Dear 60 Angels.”

She wrote: “Dear 60 Angels, 18 years have passed since the Sosoliso plane crash that took your lives among other dear souls, while sparing mine and one other. Another year, another new set of milestones. All for you. Please keep watching over me as I make even more memories for us.”
