Tinubu has appointed for the first time, a woman Dr. Temitope Ilori as the new Director General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA).

In an official release on Thursday, Toyin Aderibigbe, the agency’s Head of Public Relations and Protocol, confirmed the appointment.

According to Aderibigbe, Dr. Ilori’s appointment marks a significant milestone as she becomes the first female Director-General of NACA. Her tenure, set to commence on February 22, 2024, will span four years.

Dr. Ilori brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having served as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Community Medicine at the University of Ibadan, as well as a Consultant Family Physician at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

Quoting from the agency’s statement, “Dr. Ilori obtained her MBBS degree from the University of Ibadan and had her residency training at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria.

“She graduated as the best graduating Fellow of the Faculty of Family Medicine, West African College of Physicians in April 2012 winning the A.O. Senbanjo Prize. She is also an Associate Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria.”
