According to Vanguard, The Delta State Police Command has rescued 35 victims of human trafficking, including 23 teenagers, from a hotel in Ughelli North Local Government Area.

The police had received credible information about the illegal activities of a suspected human trafficker, Chinyere, who was luring women from the East to Ughelli with promises of employment as salesgirls in restaurants.

On July 15, the police located one of the victims, which led to a raid on the hotel where the victims were being held. The hotelier was arrested, and the 35 victims were rescued.

The police have launched a manhunt for Chinyere, the prime suspect, who is believed to be on the run. The operation was carried out by operatives from the Ekpan Police Division, led by CSP Aliyu Shaba.

The rescue operation is a major breakthrough in the fight against human trafficking in Delta State. The police have vowed to continue to work tirelessly to combat human trafficking and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.

The victims are currently receiving medical attention and counseling, and the police are working to reunite them with their families. The hotelier is facing charges related to human trafficking and exploitation.
