Dr Anuoluwapo Adepoju, popularly known as Sisi Anu has been in the news for a couple of years for failed cosmetic surgeries especially butt lifts.
She is reported to have been in police custody after failed cosmetic procedures last year.
A butt lift on a certain Nneka had failed and when taken to the Emergency Unit of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), the surgery had gone gravely septic leading to the patient’s death.
Dr Anu arranged in court was not only suspended, but her hospital, Med Contour at the high brow area of Lekki was sealed up by the Nigerian Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).
This time, there is another uproar over a failed procedure. A patient’s surgery went septic and the public is calling for justice while also blaming the women who keep going back to Dr Anu.
Her latest victim is said to be resident in New York, United States of America who chose to travel home to get the surgery done.
Medical professionals have however, warned that butt lift is a risky procedure and anyone willing to take the risk should run background checks on whichever doctor they chose to patronise.
According to Aproko Doctor, “First, putting fat in your buttocks is a risky surgery even when it’s done by professionals plastic surgeons Not to talk of quacks like Dr Anu, To know if the doctor you’re meeting is qualified, go to http://napras.org.ng and type the doctor’s full name and their state”
Sadly, most patients seek advise from peers rather than go through the rigours of a thorough research. Indeed, Dr Anu is said to have done a number of successful surgeries and therefore gets referrals from satisfied customers.
What could happen if cosmetic surgery or butt lift goes awry ?
According to @DrOlufunmilayo:
- Serious bleeding
- Severe infection
- Terrible scars
- Permanent disfigured buttocks …
- …and sometimes if the infection is serious enough, the patient can die.
