News - Women's Perspective

An abducted UNIABUJA female student has finally been released by her abductors.

She was set free following a fierce gun battle between the Nigerian Police Force in Abuja and members of a vigilante group turned kidnappers.

Mary Judith Eze was abducted alongside 11 others by the unknown gunmen on the 9th of September in a raid at the Tunga Male area of Abuja.

Residents of the community said the gunmen invaded Tunga Maje, Gwagwalada Local Government Area in the FCT and engaged all 12 of them. However, after a gun duel between the criminals and security operatives, 7 of the captives were dropped but the UNIABUJA student was not.

Fortunately, Judith was also released in the early hours of today, Tuesday, September 15.

There are also reports that the abductors demanded an additional N20 million ransom. It is unclear if any amount was paid before her she was set free.
