The wives and one-year old baby of Musa Mante, a Bauchi State lawmaker who were abducted on Thursday, 13th August have regained freedom.
The 3 family members are reported to have been set free this morning after 5 days in captivity.
Reports say they were all abducted from their home in Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State on Thursday night after the armed gunmen killed the lawmaker in their presence.
Speaking on behalf of the state governor, Ladan Salihu, the chief of staff posted on his twitter handle:
“Alhamdulilahi ! The wives of Honourable Musa Baraza, Bauchi House member murdered 4 days ago have regained freedom.
“The one-year old baby abducted with them was also released. Governor Bala Mohammed has directed doctors and security to give them adequate care and attention,” Salihu added.
Governor Bala Muhammed described the murder of Musa Mante as a great loss to Bauchi State. He promised to take stronger measures to address the security concerns in the state. The governor added that the security of lives and property were the primary concern of his administration.
According to him, “Innalillahi Wanna Ilahi Raji’un, I received the news of the killing of our lawmaker by unknown gunmen with great shock. That has shown that we need to put extra efforts in collaboration with the security agencies to ensure the safety of our people.
“With this unfortunate incident, Bauchi State Government all work in close collaboration with security agencies to identify those involved in the killing so that they will face the full wrath of the law,” the governor added.
