Abike Dabiri-Erewa Reacts to Hushpuppi’s Arrest in Dubai

The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa has reacted the news of the arrest of cyber crime king-pin Hushpuppi.

Ramoni Igbalode aka Huspuppi, a social media celebrity was arrested in Dubai 2 weeks ago in an operation code-named Fox Hunt 2. It was a collaboration between the the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Interpol and the police of the United Arab Emirates in Dubai.

News and a video footage of the arrest was published by the Dubai Media office yesterday, 24th June.

The arrest caused varying reactions across Nigeria’s social media and mainstream media space. This is more so as controversial On-air Personality, Daddy Freeze, a few months back posted videos of the multi-billionaire fraudster in his Dubai Palatial home. The house is built with the best quality Vassace marble, interior deco and crockery.

Hushpuppi and Daddy Freeze showed off at least 30 custom made top of the range vehicles made only for the extremely rich and famous.

Reacting to the arrest, Abike Dabiri-Erewa said that the crimes he was accused of is not a true reflection of the larger Nigerian populace.

She also regretted that “committing crime and still having the audacity to show off. Ramoni Igbalode aka Hushpuppi.

“This is really denting our image as a people, but like I always say, fraud does not represent who we are as Nigerians. Harworking. Dedicated. Committed.”

“Whether your name is Ramoni Igbalode or Invictus Obi, crime is crime. The law must take its course. To those countries, another Nigerian has committed a crime. While we will call out those who soil our image, we will always celebrate the millions of Nigerians making us proud.”
