Abuja-Kaduna Train Attack: Former Governor Appeals to Government to Rescue His Son and Wife with Grandchildren

A former military governor of Benue and Kano States, General Idris Garba (rtd.), has appealed to the Niger State Governor, Abubakar Bello to rescue his son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.

The entire family was abducted during the terrorists’ attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train.

The family, Abubakar Idris Garba, his wife, Maryam Bobbo and their four children namely Ibrahim, Fatima, Imran and Zainab, were initially declared missing after the March 28 attack but later confirmed to be among the kidnapped passengers.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane paid General Garba a sympathy visit in his house in Kaduna on behalf of the State Governor.

Speaking through his brother, Garba said he has been traumatised and is having sleepless nights since his loved ones were abducted.

Garba commended Governor Bello for the visit and concern over the unfortunate incident. He urged him to do everything possible to rescue his family members and other kidnapped victims.

On his part, Governor Abubakar Bello lamented the incessant insecurity in the state where several people have been maimed or killed with many others abducted.

Bello revealed that: “the Abuja -Kaduna train attack by bandits marks another sad moment in the fight against terrorism we are facing in our dear country, while appealing to Garba and other families whose loved one were abducted to have confidence in the ability of Government to do all that is needed to be done in rescuing their dear ones.

He told Garba that he was in his house on behalf of the people and Government of Niger State to commiserate with him over the dastardly incident.

The Governor assured Nigerlites that his administration is leaving no stone unturned in arresting the security situation in the State, stressing that “he has directed all security agencies for the speedy rescue of the kidnapped persons and will by God grace be rescued”.
