There are strong indications that the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E A Adeboye has endorsed the presidential ambition of Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo.
The report comes after another report that Osinbajo would declare his ambition for the number 1 office after the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
However, in a statement released on Monday, Osinbajo denied claims that he officially declared his intention to contest in the 2023 elections.
In another development, a support group for ‘Osinbajo 2023′ announced on Instagram that, “Despite the ongoing campaigns against his currently rumoured bid for the presidency by some interests in the southwest, where he hails from, Osinbajo had made up his mind to give the presidency a shot.
“Even more instructive was the fact that Osinbajo had received the blessing and the charge to go ahead with his ambition from Pastor Adeboye.”
Should Yemi Osinbajo decide to contest, he is expected to massively divide the support base of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, his ‘godfather’ and benefactor who is widely believed to have been instrumental to his rise through various political positions from Lagos State to the Aso Rock.
Ahead of that, the Vice President must also, first wrench the presidential ticket of the APC, from Tinubu.
