Human rights activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has denied reports that he has appealed the conviction of controversial Nigerian cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky.
Bobrisky was sentenced to 6 months in prison by a Federal High Court in Lagos after he pleaded guilty for abusing the naira by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Earlier on Tuesday, Bobrisky was reported to have appealed his 6-month conviction for financial misconduct.
In the appeal said to have been submitted by his attorney, Deji Adeyanju, Bobrisky requested the appellate court to overturn the six-month jail term issued to him.
However, speaking with Punch on Monday, Adeyanju stated that he is not Bobrisky’s attorney and has not filed an appeal on his behalf.
He said, “I didn’t file any appeal on Bobrisky’s behalf. I am not representing Bobrisky on any matter.“
