The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has revealed the agreement he had with President Muhammadu Buhari before ‘making him president’ in 2015.
One of the 2023 presidential aspirants, Tinubu stated that Buhari was at that time a candidate who had given up hope of emerging as a democratically elected President of Nigeria after contesting and failing 3 times.
The APC leader said he undertook to visit Buhari in Katsina and agreed to work with him to secure his victory.
He noted that he gave Buhari the condition for the job; that he would take care of the Yoruba people in the country.
Tinubu made the statement while addressing APC delegates in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Thursday.
It was also at the meeting that Tinubu bragged about the role he played in not only making Muhammadu Buhari president of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osinbajo Buhari’s running mate, but also Dapo Abiodun as Ogun State Governor.
Speaking in Yoruba language, the APC chieftain said in a video: “If not me that led the war front, Buhari wouldn’t have emerged. He contested first, second and third times, but lost. He even said on television that he won’t contest again.
“But I went to his home in Katsina, I told him you would contest and win, but you won’t joke with the matters of the Yorubas.”
