Akinyemi Denies Statement Asking for Tinubu’s Arrest

News - Women's Perspective

A former Minister for External Affairs, Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi, has denied being the author of a letter or petition demanding the arrest of President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu over alleged provocative statements that instigated violence against Igbos during the general election.

An earlier report today, published a petition, allegedly signed by the former Minister in which he allegedly made several allegations and called for the arrest of Tinubu.

Speaking to Nationwide Wednesday evening however, the former Minister said he did not author such letter.

According to him, “My attention has been drawn to the seditious and spurious letter to the President, General Mohammed Buhari calling for the arrest of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“My name has been attached to this letter.

“I am stating most emphatically that I did not write or authorize this letter.

“I sign my letter Professor A. Bolaji Akinyemi and not in any format.

“I have sought legal advice on this matter and have been advised that since my parents did not patent my name when I was named, anyone can call himself Bolaji Akinyemi.”
