Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has reacted after successfully overcoming what she alleges was a politically motivated recall attempt spearheaded by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.
Her reaction follows the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) decision to dismiss the recall petition against her, citing its failure to meet constitutional standards.

As reported by Vanguard, the senator characterized the recall effort as a desperate strategy by anti-democratic forces attempting to undermine the people’s will.
She credited her victory to the strong support of her constituents and allies, warning that those who sought to remove her would soon face repercussions. She asserted that Nigerian politics was entering a new phase—one where corruption, electoral fraud, and political manipulation would no longer be tolerated.
According to Akpoti-Uduaghan, this shift signals the end of an era where politicians relied on deception and power consolidation to maintain their positions.
Her remarks come amid an ongoing political conflict with Akpabio, which escalated after the controversy surrounding her Senate seat reassignment in February 2025. The friction between them intensified further with allegations of misconduct and sexual harassment.
Despite receiving a six-month suspension from the Senate for alleged unruly behavior, Akpoti-Uduaghan remains determined, vowing to push forward in her political career and stand up for marginalized citizens.
Speaking on her victory, she declared, “The voice of the people is sacred. No one—whether it’s former Governor Yahaya Bello, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, or their supporters—can interfere with the mandate given to me by the courageous people of Kogi Central without facing disgrace.”
She added, “your political time is running out. A new era has dawned, where Nigerians will no longer tolerate corrupt politicians whose only legacy is violence, electoral fraud, and dishonesty.”
