Traders at the Alaba International Market, yesterday, stopped an Anambra governorship candidate, Ifeanyi Ubah from campaigning in the market as they insisted on Biafra.

A crowd of the traders was seen in a video following the candidate’s convoy in spite of his heavily armed escort, stopping them from campaigning and insisting on getting the Biafra referendum.

This comes after the recent arrest of Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu who was manhandled and arrested by the Nigerian Army at Upper Iweka Road, Onitsha, Anambra State.

Agu was spotted in a Biafran flag attire sharing bread to the public when the military men took him into custodyHe was later released but picked up again by men of the Department of State State Services (DSS) for questioning but later released to the Actors Guild of Nigeria.

Agu explained to the operatives, both military and the DSS that the regalia was not a representation of Biafra but rather a ‘Rising Sun.’

Alaba international market is an electronics market located in OjoLagos State, Nigeria. It is the largest electronics market in Nigeria. Apart from the sales of electronic products, the markets also deals in the repair of home appliances.
