Raised by a white mother alongside 2 brothers and 2 sisters,, some of whom were adopted he always wanted to be a police officer. His aim was to contribute to fixing the racial divide in the society. His mother, Ms Joni Kueng said Alex wanted to work from within particularly on the racial stereotyping by the police.

Sadly, it was only his 3rd shift as a cop and he was just 26.

According to Ms Kueng, Alex in his worry for the black community once confirmed his motive for the job of a cop by asking “don’t you think that needs to be done from the inside ?

She added that “that’s part of the reason why he wanted to become a police officer, and a black officer on top of it, is to bridge the gap in the community, change the narrative between the officers and the black community.”

Unfortunately, with the murder of Floyd, some of his family have distanced themselves from him saying he should have done something to prevent the death.

His mother also regretted that “it’s a gut punch. Here you are, you’ve raised this child, you know who he is inside and out. We’re such a racially diverse family. To be wrapped up in a racially motivated incident like this is just unfathomable.”

Some of Alex Kueng’s siblings joined the black lives matter protests in the wake of Floyd’s murder. One of his sisters, Radiance insists she will change her last name in part as she would not associate herself with Alex anymore.

According to Radiance, “I don’t care if it was his third day at work or not, he knows right from wrong.”
