Reverend Humphrey Olumakaiye, the Bishop of Lagos Diocese, is dead, following a protracted battle with an undisclosed ailment.
Olumakaiye died at the age of 53 in the early hours of Monday.
His death is the third among Anglican bishops in the Church of Nigeria in the last three months.
Bishop of the Diocese of Akoko Edo, Rt. Rev. Jolly Oyekpen, died on August 29. While Rt. Rev David Obiosa of the Diocese of Ndokwa died about a week ago.
Olumakaiye was elected for translation into the Diocese of Lagos on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, and became the 8th bishop of Lagos on July 30, 2018, at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos.
On September 25, 2021, he became the archbishop of the province of Lagos and was officially ordained on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Gwarimpa, Abuja.
Olumakaiye was born on January 28, 1969
