Angry Youths Chase Politician Out of His Community (video)

Some angry youths in Owo, Ondo State, on Tuesday, chased the majority leader of the state House of Assembly, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, popularly known as ‘West’, out of his community.

The youths, numbering about 50, were seen in a video chasing the lawmaker and his entourage out of Iloro community over alleged poor performance and imposition.

The youths who rained invectives at the politician representing Owo Constituency 1, harassed him out of a meeting with some leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the community.

His entourage was not spared as Ogunmolasuyi was whisked away by his security details while his aides scampered to safety.

An witness, Tosin Anthony Fapohunda said that “An Ondo State state lawmaker was chased like a thief in broad daylight today by youths of his constituency over non performance and absolute isolation from his constituency since he was voted in to represent them at the Ondo State House of AssemblyOndo state majority leader Honourable Ogunmolasuyi AKA West was chased away from his home town by youths in his constituency amidst imposition rumour and non performance.”

Reacting to the incident, the politician said he was not chased out of the town, rather he was attacked by political thugs allegedly recruited by some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members.

Ogunmolasuyi denied claims of underperformance and imposition, saying he has given out scholarships, and palliatives and carried out several developmental projects in his constituency

He told reporters: “I was there to meet with my party people. It was after I left those people in the video are thugs. I have left and was told there was a video circulating.

“Those guys are thugs. Those guys are not the people that will reject anybody. They were all PDP people. PDP has failed and they are looking for a way to make themselves popular through me.

“My contribution is enough to speak for me. If I have not done well, I will not come out to say I want to contest.

“I have represented my people well and done so many things. That is why I can say I want to seek re-election.”
