Anguish, Tears as Victims of Yelwa Zangam Killings Are Buried (photos)

16 out of 34 victims killed by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen at the Yelwa Zangem community in Jos, Plateau State were buried on Saturday.

The bodies of the victims were burnt beyond recognition in the attack which took place on Wednesday. 12 of the victims are said to have been locked in one room, killed and the house set ablaze.

They were all burnt beyond recognition while others were butchered by the bandits terrorists. They included women, children, parents and grandparents.

The remains of all the victims were evacuated from the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) in a procession that began at about 7:30am on Saturday.

They moved to the burial ground in a peaceful and sober procession while the relatives of the dead could hardly be consoled as they wailed watching the bodies of loved ones lowered into the grave.

A woman simply identified as Rita wailed uncontrollably as she watched her 2 daughters being buried. She said her entire life has been taken away from her.
