The terrorists were led by one of the commanders of the group and comprised of mostly youths whom he led to the Nigerian Army.

Speaking with Daily Trust on the development, a security source said they turned themselves in with their families to 26 Task Force Brigade in Gwoza.

The sources added that, “I think what we are seeing now is as a result of the death of Abubakar Shekau; his death has affected the group.

“A total of 120 Boko Haram members and their families surrendered in Gwoza town today (Wednesday)”

Another source said that the surrendered terrorists came with only their clothes and bicycles.

Curiously, they did not hand firearms and that created doubt among the residents.
