A Nigerian Airforce jet ATR 42 has crash-landed in Akure, the Ondo State Capital.
Reports say that it was heading to Owerri, Imo State to aid military operations in the South East region of the country.
Sahara Reporters quotes top Airforce sources as saying that the incident happened about the time the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru died in another military jet mishap in Kaduna.
Sahara Reporters say that the military authorities covered up the incident and refrained from issuing a statement to avoid public backlash.
The reports say the jet was conveying a number of special force personnel to Imo State and the incident led to various degrees of injuries but left no fatalities.
The source said that, “It was an ATR 42 and we were going to Imo State. The aircraft crash-landed the next day; the authorise are hiding the incident.
“The crash occurred in the morning. It was solely a military affair and they prevented anyone of us from talking about it or taking photographs of the incident.”
