Another tragedy occurred in Benin on Wednesday as a ghastly motor accident claimed the life of a serving youth corper identified as Oluwale Abidemi.
The accident happened along the busy Airport road inward Ogba River bridge when the truck fully loaded with sand lost control due to break failure.
It rammed into a Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) before hitting a commercial motorcycle conveying the youth corper and another woman.
The corper reportedly died on the spot while the other woman sustained injuries.
The injured woman is currently being treated at a hospital while the corpse of the serving youth corps member has been deposited at a mortuary.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, DSP Kontongs Bello said that, “Today, about 12:30pm, a tipper carrying sand failed break at Ogba bridge and ran into a Lexus SUV and a motorbike.
“The motobike was conveying one Mrs Maria who was badly injured and receiving treatment at the Central Hospital, Benin and the youth corps member who was said to be the sister of Maria, died on the spot.”
This tragedy comes barely 24 hours after another tipper rammed into 2 commercial buses claiming the lives of 9 passengers along Sakponba Road, Benin City.
