‘APC is a Mafia Organization in the Pocket of One Man’ – Former Lagos Deputy Governor (video)

An old video has emerged online where Senator Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele, the former deputy governor to Bola Tinubu described the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State as a Mafia Organisation in the pocket of just one man.

Bucknor-Akerele stated this in an interview with Seun Okinbaloye in 2018 while reacting to the decision of the party to drop the former Governor of the state, Akinwunmi Ambode ahead of the 2019 governorship election.

There were claims that the ruling party dumped Ambode for Babajide Sanwo-Olu who eventually emerged as governor because of his differences with Tinubu.

Several Governors elected on the platform of the APC appealed to Tinubu to rescind his decision, but the National Leader stood his ground and dropped Ambode.

Bucknor-Akerele, at that time of the interview, described the development as disgraceful.

She noted that the Lagos State chapter of APC has been wired in such a way that everyone must serve one man and if you are not ready to serve that one man, you are out.

The former Deputy Governor said that one man decides who takes a political position and everyone worships him.

The former Senator said that this does not make APC a political party, but a mafia organisation.

Akerele also stated that the people of Lagos State are fed up with APC, claiming that the party has driven away businesses in the state to other countries.

When asked if APC is synonymous with Lagos, and Lagos State is synonymous with APC, she said, “APC is not synonymous to Lagos, and Lagos can not be synonymous to APC, just that one person thinks they have Lagos State in their pocket does not mean APC is synonymous to Lagos.”
