A yet-to-be identified supporter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is reported to have collapsed and died during the National convention held at the Eagle Square, Abuja on Saturday.
The man is said to have died on his way to the venue of the convention.
Eyewitnesses add that before the incident, he complained of dizziness and collapsed thereafter.
Concerned party supporters rushed to assist him, but he could not make it.
The deceased was latter covered and taken away by some persons led by security operatives.
The convention was nearly taken over by thugs who stormed the venue in their numbers in an attempt to disrupt proceedings.
Chaos started hours before the event but was met with the stiff resistance of the police and other security operatives who apparently came prepared.
Nevertheless, containing a major calamity did not come easy for them as the miscreants broke down the gates to the Square.
Having pushed the thugs back, the police dispersed them with tear gas minutes before the kickoff scheduled for 3:30pm.
