Heavily armed bandits, earlier this morning stormed Government Science College (GSC) Kagara in Niger State.

Reports say that a yet to ascertained number of students, staff and family members were abducted.

An alumnus of the school and former Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani has condemned the attack.

He announced earlier this morning that:

According to Shehu Sani, Senator Shehu Sani@ShehuSani “The images & video clips of the Victims of the kidnapping in Niger state which includes women,Children and infants is pure evil & tragic.The Confidence and audacity of the heavily armed bandits reflects the tumors the Government must urgently treat in order to save the nation.

“Parents are just pulling out their Children from the Govt Science College Kagara,the scene of the early morning invasion by http://bandits.One student is confirmed killed.The whereabouts & numbers of those abducted remains http://unknown.No lessons learnt from Kankara.

Channels Television reports that the bandits arrived at about 2:00am and started shooting sporadically in the air. An un-named student is reported to have been killed while many were injured in the operation.

The reports say that the gunmen arrived in the same school uniform as the students and could have been mistaken to be students.

Meanwhile, Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello has ordered the immediate closure of all boarding schools within the bandit ravaged parts of the state.

He said it was a measure taken to save the lives of students as the areas are already over-run by bandits.

The governor also called on the President to help secure the state from the rampaging bandits.

In a swift reaction, President Buhari dispatched a team of security personnel to the area.

The information was given this afternoon by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu. According to Shehu.

President Muhammadu Buhari has received reports of the brazen attack on Government Science College, Kagara, Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, following which a yet to be ascertained number of staff and students have been abducted by gunmen.

“The President has also dispatched to Minna, Niger State a team of security chiefs to coordinate the rescue operation and meet with state officials, community leaders, as well as parents and staff of the College

“President Buhari has assured of the support of his administration to the Armed Forces in their brave struggle against terrorism and banditry and urged them to do all that can be done to bring an end to this saga, and avoid such cowardly attacks on schools in the future.

““Our prayers are with families of the victims of this attack,” said the President as he condemned as cowardly the attack on innocent school children.”
