Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers invaded the Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Kubwa, Bwari area council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

The invaders numbering not less than 10 arrived the church premises at about about 3:00am on Monday shooting sporadically in the air.

A neighbour said the church security resisted them but was overpowered and stabbed in the stomach.

He added that the criminals got infuriated on discovering that there was no money or valuables to steal.

According to him, “The incident happened around 3:00am on Monday. The robbers came and John tried to resist them. During the fracas, he was overpowered and stabbed in the stomach.

“He was rushed to the General Hospital in Kubwa but because the doctors were on strike, there was nothing that could be done. He was thereafter transferred to another private hospital in Abuja.”

In his reaction, the Associate Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Joseph Ogaba said nothing was stolen from the church and no life was lost.

“Nothing was taken from the church and we cannot question somebody (guard) who is on the sickbed. Until he gets better and we hear from him, whatever you hear will be assumptions.

“We will prefer you wait and hear from the church before publications,” Ogaba said.
