Nigeria’s former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu was on May 5 jailed alongside his wife, Beatrice and the middle man, Dr Obinna Obeta who helped traffic a poor street hawker to London.
The 21-year-old was discovered to be ignorant of the sinister motive of harvesting his kidney to save the live of Sonia, Ekweremadu’s ailing daughter.
In a written address sent the court, the victim pleaded with the UK government no to send him back to Nigeria saying he would br killed.
Reacting to the sentencing of the former Senator, Asari Dokubo, a prominent Ijaw figure and ex-militant took to a live streamed video on Facebook, to threaten to deal with Ike young victim.
According to Asari Dokubo, Ike Ekweremadu’s donor should have returned to Nigeria peacefully if he is not interested anymore, instead of reporting to the police.
“Your greed has caused us global shame. You should have returned to Nigeria if you don’t want the deal again. I will use everything within me to ensure Ekweremadu gets his justice. I will not rest until I get you and your supporters. I will display them to the world. Just forget about Nigeria”.
Ike Ekweremadu was sentenced to 9 years and 8 months in jail for allegedly plotting to harvest a man’s kidney for his sick daughter, Sonia. His wife, Beatrice bagged 4 years and 6 months jail term. While Obinna Obeta, a medical doctor also bagged 10 years’ sentence for the same offense.
Obeta’s medical practice license was also suspended.
