The 2023 Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar on Monday, continued his solidarity visits with a stop at the home of the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike in Abuja.
The former Vice President defeated Wike who was his closet rival at the presidential primary of the main opposition party on Saturday night.
Atiku gathered 371 votes while Wike, polled 237 votes. This came after the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal pulled out of the race for Atiku during the electoral process.
While stepping down, Tambuwal called on his supporters to pass their votes to Atiku.
On Monday the PDP flag bearer met with Wike as part of his reconciliation move. The move is also aimed at giving the party a better chance in the 2023 presidential election when it squares up against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The reconciliation meeting was also attended by former Governor of Ekiti State and PDP presidential aspirant, Ayodele Fayose, among other PDP chieftains.
Wike has not reacted since his defeat at the presidential primary election.
However, while speaking before the commencement of voting he said he would support any candidate that emerges.
At the time Atiku mounted the stage to give his acceptance speech, Wike was no where to be found.
