Embattled Nollywood Yoruba actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka also known by his media name as Baba Ijesha, will be arraigned at an Ikeja Special Offences Court on Thursday over allegations of sexually assaulting a teenage girl.
Baba Ijesha has been in police custody since his arrest on April 22. He is scheduled to appear before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo on the 24th of June according to reports
The actor is said to have appeared at the Yaba Magistrate Court on the 16th of June on charges of indecent treatment of a minor, child defilement, sexual assault by penetration, attempted sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault.
The accused pleaded not guilty but was ordered to be remanded in custody by Magistrate P E Nwaka due to indications that the matter is already before the high court.
Magistrate Nwaka ruled that, “I have carefully considered the application of the counsel to the defendant seeking bail for the defendant and the opposition by the counsel from the DPP.
“Since there are indications that the matter is before the high court and the defendant will appear before the court, no bail can be given.”
