A former Governor Niger State, Babangida Aliyu has revealed why the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike was not chosen as the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The Presidential candidate of the main opposition party last week, Thursday announced the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate.
The former Vice President gave the declaration while at the National Secretariat of the party with the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu in attendance.
Aliyu stated this during an interview on Channels TV on Monday night.
He disclosed that the reason for Wike being dropped as the party’s vice-presidential candidate, is that Atiku could not have chosen someone who does not compliment him.
He further stated that he can count many times Governor Wike has insulted people, adding that it is not every time you are expected to talk.
The PDP chieftain said, “I can count how many people who had been insulted. Some people will say he is saying his mind. There are times you don’t say your mind”
Aliyu said even though people appreciate Wike’s expressive nature, he should not talk always to get his way to the top.
When asked if Wike does not complement Atiku, Aliyu said, “I don’t know if it’s another thing, when you speak so much, when you insult yourself or you insult your way into power, it does not normally happen.”
